The Vaqueros doing their pre-game warmups before the Western State Conference game with College of the Canyons. The Vaqs were the winners in an extra inning game when substitute left fielder Freshman Brian Ward who had just gotten into the game and was the first batter in the bottom of the tenth took the first pitch and sent it over the center field fence some 380 feet away for a walk around homer that won the game for Glendale College, 7-6.

Glendale College catcher Ben Torrie at the plate for infield practice with Coach Cicuto doing the batting. Torrie has started 19 games for the Vaqueros and has a batting average of 338, second to team leader Brian Bistagne who is batting 409.

The Glendale College Vaqueros do a great number of different exercizes to limber up before a game. Note the left bridge, the double bridge, the bicycle, the lower back bridge,etc,etc.

The average athlete has full realization that unless your body is limber your not ready for a 100% effort in a ball game, especially staring from the zero position.

The Glendqle College pitchers in a warm up before the start of the game. Navad Poringer got the call as the starter for the Canyons game and went eight and one half innings giving up seven hits. He left the game when the score was tied at six.

Glendale College first baseman Taylor Smale from St.Francis High School waiting for the throw during the pre-game infield practice. Smale has had 212 chances at first base with 201 put outs, nine assists and ten double plays for a .991 fielding percentage.

Glendale pitcher Navad Poringer who started for the Vaqueros against the Cougars about to deliver a strike. Poringer pitched eight and a half innings giving up four runs and seven hits. He struck out five Cougars before being relieved in the top of the ninth.

A Glendale batter sees a Cougar pitch coming down the pike with two men on base. The Vaqueros stranded eight base runners during the game and were out hit by Canyons 14-7 but still managed to connect the dots to come up with the tenth inning homer to win the game.

The Cougar pitcher releases the ball on its way to the strike zone. Andy Marquardt sees it coming, lines it up and crushes it to the right center field fence for a double that drove in three runs for the Vaqueros in the sixth inning. Marquardt later scored for a four run inning for Glendale.

Glendale College relief pitcher Matt Stone strikes out College of the Canyons clean up hitter in the top of the tenth for the first out of the inning. Stone gave up four hits in two innings and got credit for the win.

Coaches and players from both teams congratulate each other on a well played and well coached game that Glendale won in the bottom of the tenth inning on a walk off homer by Freshman Brian Ward from Pasadena High 7-6.
